Description
PExA has developed a patented research instrument - PExA 2.0 - to study respiratory diseases such as asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). PExA currently provides lung researchers with a simple, harmless and painless method for collecting microscopic liquid droplets in exhaled air that contains potential biomarkers for diseases of the small airways. Through the method, the researchers have easy access to a sample from the liquid layer that covers the smallest airways, which competing methods do not reach. The test can be compared to a blood test for the small airways and can be used to detect lung diseases at an early stage. The purpose is to facilitate research and development of reliable and individualized diagnosis, monitoring and treatment of respiratory diseases.
